Brighton Academy Kindergarten admits children from ages 6 months – 5 years. The class levels are as follows:
- Kindergarten – 1.8 to 3 years
- Nursery – 3 to 4 years
- Reception – 4 to 5 years
Every class has a teacher and a teacher assistant. The teacher closely monitors the progress of each child and every child is treated as an individual. The teacher communicates daily with the parent through the diary system.
Our day begins at 8.00am with morning devotions and ends at 2.30pm. The Playgroup children take a nap after lunch.
The extra curricula activities in the Kindergarten include Ballet,Skating, Swimming, Music and P.E. Recorder lessons are offered from ages 5 and Piano lessons offered from ages 4+.
Areas of Learning in Kindergarten
- Language and Literacy :Children are taught to communicate clearly and with confidence. They learn to enjoy stories, songs, poems. They learn to hear and say sounds and to link them to the alphabet, words and sentences.
- Numeracy : They learn to develop an understanding of numbers through play and manipulation of objects, songs, stories, games, colour and become aware of shapes, space and data
Personal Social and Emotional Development
- Children learn to become self confident through presentation of projects, class presentations and musical concerts.
- Spiritual Development :Every week we explore a theme that runs for the whole school. The children learn about God’s love, love for others and self love. This develops their spiritual growth.
The academic year begins in September and ends in early July.
